LOCATION: Jefferson-Lewis BOCES: This is an itinerant assignment serving the school districts within Jefferson & Lewis Counties.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing provides specialized instruction to K-12 students who have a hearing disability.  Services include direct instruction, consultation, and co-teaching as appropriate.  Preferred candidates will possess solid interpreting skills.

Adult Education Specialist – WIOA Literacy InstructorLiteracy WIOA CTE AE JCC 6.30.25

LOCATION: Jefferson Lewis BOCES with the primary assignment at Bohlen Technical Center; secondary assignments as needed at Adult Education partner locations in the area.    

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2025 or as soon as possible.                                                                                                                  

SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday (6-hours/day) during the academic year and two days per week (3-hours/day) during the months of July and August.  The academic year follows the local scholastic calendar. 

COMPENSATION: $22 - $27/hour       

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: To provide workforce development and literacy services to assist individuals who are not enrolled or not required to be enrolled in secondary school under NYS law.  Workforce development instruction, the core of this position, will assist students to acquire digital literacy skills, fundamental work skills and personal money skills for economic self-sufficiency.  The secondary focus is literacy instruction in order to assist students acquire the necessary academic skills to obtain a NYS High School Equivalency diploma.

LOCATION: Sackett Technical Center with initial assignment at Jefferson Community College Extension Site, Lowville, NY                 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of educators to provide a program of instruction in operation and maintenance of Heavy Equipment.  A project-based learning approach will be key. 

DUTIES INCLUDE:                         

  • Preparing students for careers and post-secondary education related to Heavy Equipment. 
  • Integrating 21st Century skills, employability skills, and academic standards with the program and with daily instruction.
  • Meeting / planning with local industry advisory committee for continuous improvement of the program.
  • Preparing students for success on the NCCER and/or other certification exams.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of educators to provide instruction in the Nursing Assistant program for 12th graders. Duties include:    

  • Collaborating with colleagues to integrate academics, literacy, and technology with the high school Nursing Assistant program
  • Preparing students for the Certified Nursing Assistant exam, post-secondary education and/or employment as a nursing assistant.
  • Integrating 21st Century skills, employability skills, and academic standards with the program and with daily instruction
  • Networking with hospital and medical staff to establish and monitor student clinical rotations
  • Meeting / planning with local industry advisory committee for continuous improvement of the program
  • Instructing a session of Medical Career students each day

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of educators to provide services to students. Duties include:

  • Psychological evaluations, IEP development, group and individual counseling, and consultation with parents and faculty
  • Participate in district’s Response to Intervention and Committee on Special Education in making decisions that are in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
