Job Description

TITLE: Teacher Assistant – Multiple Openings in Program for Exceptional Students

STARTING DATE: A soon as possible

LOCATION: Jefferson-Lewis BOCES with assignments in component districts throughout Jefferson County

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $21,000 - $21,063. Commensurate with certification/experience in keeping with the current negotiated agreement with the CSEA. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:               

• Assist with instruction and assessment under the direction of the teacher
• Assist in preparing lessons and materials
• Employ effective management practices to support diverse student management needs and an environment conducive to learning
• Engage in continuing professional staff development activities

Job Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• NYS Teacher Assistant Certification
• Basic requirements: high school diploma or GED, Child Abuse workshop, School Violence workshop, fingerprinting clearance through NYSED, and Assessment of Teacher Assistant Skills Test (ATAS)
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics
• Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
